A UFO Spotted In This Video Might Explain Last Week’s SpaceX Rocket Explosion

Last week, the world was shocked when a rocket from Elon Musk’s famed private space flight company SpaceX exploded on the launch pad at Cape Canaveral during a test. The explosion (which was technically a fast-moving fire, according to Musk) also destroyed the rocket’s most precious cargo, Facebook’s first satellite. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCBP_ATF’); }); While the exact cause of the explosion is still being investigated, hawk-eyed conspiracy theorists have quite a novel explanation. They think it was the work of a UFO. Over the weekend, while reviewing footage of the explosion, a strange object was seen hovering near the rocket. YouTube / UFOvni2012 googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCBM_BTF’); }); The object makes an appearance just before the explosion begins and cannot be seen afterward. YouTube / UFOvni2012 While a strange speck on the film is by no means definitive proof, it’s enough to make you suspect extraterrestrial foul play, isn’t it? YouTube […]

NASA Is Shutting Down The ISS Live Feed For Good...Something Is Fishy About This

NASA Is Shutting Down The ISS Live Feed For Good…Something Is Fishy About This

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DTBT_ATF’); }); The live feed from the International Space Station (ISS) has been in the news over the last few years for cutting out whenever a UFO is spotted in the background. However, the days of us being able to use the ISS live stream as a way to hunt for UFOs are now numbered. NASA announced this week that they will be shutting down the stream and will only bring it back when there are major events taking place on the ISS. The date of the shutdown is September 1, 2016. In place of the live feed, NASA’s media team will be providing weekly updates on the station via its blog and email list. Not cool, guys. However, in their media briefing, NASA officials failed to offer a convincing explanation for why they’re choosing this moment to turn off the live stream for good. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCI1_BTF’); […]

Love UFOs? Well, Then I Have Some Bad News For You -- All Those Sightings Are Fake

Love UFOs? Well, Then I Have Some Bad News For You — All Those Sightings Are Fake

If you’re anything like me, then you’re a firm believer in UFOs and life on other planets. Sadly, we UFO believers lead hard lives because even though we have faith, there is little to no hard evidence of UFOs actually existing. Usually, this is where the article would take a turn and I would say, “Until now.” Sadly, it’s not that kind of article. According to a well-respected former NASA engineer, all UFO sightings are founded on falsehood. James Oberg worked at NASA mission control in the late 1990s before becoming a space journalist and historian. iStock Oberg says he actually paid very little attention to UFOs until relatively recently. His scientific opinion on the matter: All sighting are fakes or tricks of the light. iStock The majority of UFO sightings are nothing more than “space dandruff,” or they come as a result of our human brains misunderstanding what traveling […]

This Terrifying Face Was Created By The Same People Who First Put A Man On The Moon

NASA is obviously known first and foremost for space exploration (and for helping us win the Cold War, of course). Back in the day, though, NASA didn’t just research rocket ships and space flight. They dabbled in all sorts of experiments. While plenty of this old research is still classified, bits of information have leaked over the years. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCBP_ATF’); }); One of NASA’s freakiest experiments of all time is the so-called “NASA Android.” While it never made it to full production (for reasons you’ll soon see), this hydraulic-powered prototype looks like it’s straight out of a freaky science-fiction movie. Don’t believe me? See for yourself in the video below. (via Reddit) If, for whatever reason, you want to get to know this thing a little bit better, it’s currently on display at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia. Read more: […]

These Awesome Facts About Space Will Leave You In Awe.

These Awesome Facts About Space Will Leave You In Awe.

Space: The undiscovered country. The final frontier. The last vestige of explorers. And, yes, the setting of Star Trek. Space is the greatest mystery and, even though it literally surrounds us, it’s the one we ignore the most. When was the last time you sat around and pondered how you’re sitting on a planet in the middle of the biggest “ocean” in existence? We did some pondering for you. These 19 jaw-dropping facts about space might just have you wanting more from the universe. Just don’t try to build your own Starship Enterprise or anything of the sort. They’re not real… yet. 1.) It takes a proton close to 170,000 YEARS to travel from the center of the sun to the surface, and then only 8 minutes to reach Earth. NASA 2.) Spaghettification is what scientists call the effect of falling through a black hole and stretching out like spaghetti. […]

This Is What The Largest Hot Desert In The World Looks Like From Space.

This Is What The Largest Hot Desert In The World Looks Like From Space.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, some of them are bound to be interesting. In this photograph taken by an astronaut in the International Space Station, the Sahara desert meets the Atlantic Ocean. The meeting point of the largest hot desert in the world and the world’s second largest ocean is pretty epic (as it should be). Check it out! NASA The distance from which the picture was taken allows us to observe natural patterns like wind streaks and the reflected sunlight makes it possible for us to see sabkhas (salt flats) and internal waves. Though internal waves are barely even noticeable from the surface, below it they can sometimes grow to an upwards of 550 feet. The phosphate transport line really puts into perspective how great of a distance must be traveled to bring phosphate minerals from the inland mines to the coast for trade. The minerals are used […]

According To NASA, You Could Leave Your Crappy Job And Work On Mars Instead

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DTAT_ATF’); }); Here’s how I feel after I watch the news every night: And I know for a fact that you feel my struggle on some level. Life here on planet Earth is rough, folks. If you’re sick of feeling like you’re living in the middle of a dumpster fire, why not hitch a ride on a rocket ship and leave this nonsense behind? Sure, that might be a fantasy right now, but NASA wants us to know that there’s potential for some extreme escapism on the horizon. NASA just released these posters that detail employment opportunities on the Red Planet, and I’m seriously not mad at any of it. If you’re interested in taking one small step for man and one giant leap for “get me the hell out of here right this second,” check them out. According to this handy little guide, NASA researchers are embarking […]

These Three People Told Us Why They Were Chosen To Go To Mars

Three candidates told us exactly what they had to do to make it through the latest Mars One selection round. Spoiler: It wasn’t much. Mars One is trying to send four people on a one-way trip to the Red Planet by 2025. And one of the ways they plan to fund the project is through a reality show documenting the process. Over 200,000 people applied, even though they’d never be able to return to Earth. Mars One just announced the final 100 candidates. BuzzFeed spoke to three hopefuls to find out more about the mission 2. Meet 20-year-old Zaskia Elena Andrea Antelo Mercado. “I’d rather die in adventure than live my whole life doing nothing,” she says. The Future Of Space Isn't NASA... And That's Not A Bad Thing.

The Future Of Space Isn’t NASA… And That’s Not A Bad Thing.

Space: it’s the final frontier. Space has long been exclusively navigated by the world’s most well-off nations (U.S and the Soviet Union) but the future of space exploration seems to be in the hands of private companies. Since it will be privately funded, CEOs will be able to determine the flight paths (and the style.) These guys are seriously ambitious. Here are some of the craziest projects in the works from privately funded space programs: 1.) Check in to the Space Hotel: Robert Bigelow, owner of the hotel chain, Budget Suites of America, has also founded Bigelow Aerospace. It aims to facilitate travel destinations in space. 1565today.com 2.) A Giant Solar Generator: The Shimuzu Corporation is planning on building a mega-scale solar generator on the moon’s surface. If all of our energy is generated by solar panels on the moon, how will your neighbors with solar panels on their roof make […]

These Quotes From Apollo Astronauts Might Make You Believe In Aliens

When Americans first landed on the moon back in 1969, it inspired a wave of excitement about space travel. Many believed that this excitement would lead to settlements on the moon, which would make mankind an interplanetary species. Sadly, that never happened. Could that be because the first men on the moon weren’t alone up there? It sounds like an outlandish claim, but judging by these NASA transcripts from the Apollo missions, there might be some truth to it. A Reporter Asked These Astronauts A Question. Their Response Was Simple But Said It All.

An American, a German, and a Russian walk into a press conference…no, this is not the start to some lame joke, but the start to a story of a truly magical moment between three astronauts. NASA’s Reid Wiseman, ESA’s Alexander Gerst, and commander Maksim Suraev of Russia’s Roscosmos are all crew members of the International Space Station, and during a recent press conference they were asked by a reporter whether US-EU-Russia tensions over Ukraine had altered or influenced their relations. Here is their emphatic answer. Their message was clear: There’s no politics in space or on the International Space Station. Just astronauts and scientists from all corners of the globe working together for humanity. Source: RT Share their friendly embrace with your friends below. This Is What A Cheeseburger Looks Like In Space

This Is What A Cheeseburger Looks Like In Space

I’ll stick to the regular earth kind, thanks. 1. Astronaut Terry Virts has tweeted out a picture of a space-cheeseburger. #SpaceCheeseburger. Beef patties, Russian mustard, tomato paste, cheese paste, and tortilla. VERY TASTY! — AstroTerry (@Terry W. Virts) 2. Just. Look. At. It. View this image › Twitter: @AstroTerry 3. It makes sense that the normal ingredients are replaced with their space-paste versions, but why is it in a tortilla? Zero gravity makes assembling a sandwich difficult, and the crumbs from regular bread are dangerous if they get stuck in airvents or sensitive equipment. That’s why Tortillas have replaced bread in space since 1980. 4. Sadly, that means this gif is lying to you. View this image › giphy.com 5. And that this cat sits on a throne of lies.
