Love or hate it, Airbnb is here to stay. The company, which allows people to rent out their homes or spare rooms to people visiting towns and cities all over the world, has attracted more than its fair share of controversy over the years. Some swear by the service, but others have sworn to destroy it. Whichever camp you fall into, it’s hard to deny the company’s success.
That being said, every successful company has its hiccups. What happened to a group of tourists hoping to enjoy the French countryside was a hiccup of epic proportions.
Earlier this week, French police responded to a call that the decomposing body of a woman had been found in the garden of this picturesque home.
The people who placed the call were young folks in their early 20s who’d found the location on Airbnb. The owners of the home were on vacation at the time.
Police said that the corpse belonged to a white woman in her 40s. Alarmingly, investigators concluded that the branches covering the body were placed there deliberately. According to the autopsy report, the woman had been dead for at least a month before the unlucky travelers found her.
When reached by phone, the owners of the house said that they were distressed about the fact that their young children could’ve found the body if they’d been home.
Before this gruesome discovery, you could rent the 19th-century, seven-bedroom chateau for just $435 a night. As of now, the house is no longer listed on Airbnb.

Well, that is certainly one way to ruin your vacation. We just have to hope that police successfully identify this woman and figure out what happened to her. All of this madness sounds like something out of a horror movie.
